Donald Howard "Dusty" Seid 88 of Rockland, MI passed away March 19, 2016 in Wausau, WI.

He was born in Rockland, MI on November 28, 1927. He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew & Gertrude Emma (Walters) Seid, his brothers Robert, James & Larry, his wife Marjorie Louise (Seils) Seid, his grandparents Friedrich & Christina Seid and Arnold & Alexandria Walters.

He is survived by his son Richard A. (Heather B.) Seid, grandsons Thomas A., Jonathan N. (Melissa) & Gregory J., great-granddaughter Zadie Seid-Sanders, brothers Ted (Nita) & Bern (Carol), sister-in-law Lucy Seid and many nieces nephews and cousins.

He graduated from Roger Clark High School in Rockland in the spring of 1945 and joined the U.S. Navy. He served 3 tours of duty in the Pentagon and a tour of overseas duty onboard the USS MANCHESTER (CL-83) with the U.S. Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean, a tour with an Intelligence Unit in North Africa (Morroco) and a Tour of Duty with a NATO Activity in La Spezia, Italy.  He retired from the Navy in October 1967 and was hired by the Navy as a civil service employee, from which he retired in June 1984.

He was a member of Rockland Legion Post 92, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 5600 in Ontonagon and the Fleet Reserve Association.  He was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal when he retired from the Navy in 1967 and the Navy's Superior Service Medal when he retired in 1984. He had resided in Rockland since 2001.

A memorial service will be held at the Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon, MI on Wednesday, March 30th at 1 p.m.  Friends may call at the funeral home 1 hour prior to the start of the service.
