Donald George Tallman (aka "Corleone"), 80, of Ontonagon, passed away April 28, 2011 after a short illness.
Donald was born on June 5, 1930 in Cheboygan, MI. He served in the Army during the Korean war and worked at Sears in Detroit for many years before moving to the UP in the 1970s, where he owned a motel and TV shop in Ontonagon for many years before retiring. Donald was a member of the Lion's Club, American Legion, VFW, and the Ontonagon Golf Club.
Donald married Eva on June 8, 1991. They enjoyed many years together at their home across from the lake. Don was an avid "slayer of the lake trout" and enjoyed many years on Lake Superior on his fishing boat, "The Detta."
He is survived by his wife, Eva; stepchildren, Garth (Amy) Norman, Heidi (John) Wettberg, Barry (Barb) Cole, Holly (Chad) Cole, Evvie (Keith) Penegor and Erik (Mandy) Hill; numerous grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Roy; brother, Robert; sister, Lola; and brother-in-law, Marty.
Donald will be greatly missed by his family. Services will be held on Monday, May 2 at 1:00 at the Cane Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will follow at the Eagle's Club.
