Dorothy Curski, 87, passed away in Ontonagon on Wednesday, July 13, 2011.

Dorothy was born in Ontonagon on March 18, 1924, the daughter of John Edward and Lenore Erickson. She graduated from the Ontonagon High School with the class of 1942. Dorothy was active in many community organizations, among them the VFW Auxiliary, the Ontonagon Womens' Club, and the Historical Society.

She served on the School Board, the Village Zoning Board, and was a past President of the PTA. She did volunteer work for Big Brothers and Little Sisters and the Ontonagon Theater. As a long time member of the United Methodist Church she graciously provided flowers for the altar and special occasions.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Walter, a current resident of the Long Term Care Unit in Ontonagon, four children, seven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Susan Gail Frehse and granddaughter Stacy Lee Hermanson.

A graveside memorial service at the Evergreen Cemetery will be announced in the near future.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the United Methodist Church.
