Edmund Matthew Szaroletta of Ontonagon, MI passed away on July 4th, 2010 at 771 Makwa Miikana, Baraga, MI peacefully in his sleep after battling lung cancer.

Ed was born on December 6th, 1934 in Ontonagon, MI to Ignace Szaroletta & Josephine Vertachich.

Edmund graduated from Ontonagon High School in 1952 and entered the Army. He then returned to Ontonagon where he worked at the Ontonagon Paper Mill. He married in 1963 to Joyce DeCorte formerly of Flint, MI. They adopted two children, Kathy Ellen and Betti Lu. He retired from the Ontonagon Herald as a printer due to illness.

He is survived by wife, Joyce along with two daughters~ Kathy of Escanaba, MI and Betti of Baraga, MI. Two brothers, Alfred of Ontonagon and Lawrence of Chasca, MN and three sisters, Mary of Ft. Pierce, FL, Margaret of Summit, IL and Donna of Ontonagon, MI, 5 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and step-son, Mark.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 9th at 11 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Ontonagon with Father Michael Jacobus officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Family Cemetery in Ontonagon.
