Edward J. Balcomb 76 of Ontonagon, MI. Passed away on 12/25/23 at Aspirus Laurium Hospital.

Ed (Butch) Balcomb was born in Ontonagon, MI. To Edward Lewis Balcomb and Dena Beatrice Bransted on July 4th 1947. Ed attended school in Ontonagon until his graduation in 1965.

Ed married the love of his life Diane June Cottenham On June 19th 1976 in Ontonagon where they spent the next 47 years together.

Ed worked as a Deputy Sheriff at the Ontonagon County Sheriff's Office for 42 years . Ed also spent a short time enlisted in the United States Navy and was Honorably discharged in 1966.

Ed spent his years with many hobbies. One of his favorites was showing off his 53 Ford at numerous car shows. Ed also organized the Ontonagon Labor Day Car show for many years.

Ed also began collecting antique tractors and engines. He enjoyed the hunt of the "rusty gold" through on line auctions estate sales and antique shows. Ed also enjoyed his morning gatherings with the guys.

Ed is survived by his wife Diane, Son Jerry (Jessica) Balcomb, Sister Doris ( George) Crouch, Grandsons Tanner, Conner  and Hunter Balcomb and several neices and nephews.

Ed is preceded in death by his father Ed, Mother Dena, Daughter Dena Marie, 3 sister Jean, Gladys, Marion and 1 brother Jack.

Burial services will be announced at a later date. The Cane Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
