Obituary

Laurie Lenneville, 93, of Ontonagon passed away peacefully March 1, 2012 at the Ontonagon Aspirus Long Term Care facility.

Laurie was born to Fred and Freda (Bruens) Lenneville on 30 March 1918 in Elgin, Illinois. He graduated high school in Elgin, later joining the US Army Air Corps and graduating, first in his class, from the National School of Aeronautics on 22 March 1943. He was posted to the Base Air Depot #2 in Blackpool, England and later served in Europe till the end of the war. After the war he returned to Ontonagon, tending to the family farm. He later spent time working on hydroelectric projects in Northern Quebec, Canada before returning to Ontonagon in 1974. He taught shop at the Ontonagon High School before retiring in the late 1980s.

He will be deeply missed by his son Peter (Mary) of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; grandsons Nathan (Hiromi) and Matthew (Kate) and great grandson Liam also of Ottawa; a number of cousins, including Rosie (Don) Crawford of Bark River, MI and friends in Ontonagon.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Long Term Care facility for their excellent care and support over the last year.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 26 at Holy Family Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m., with Father Michael Jacobus officiating. Inurnment with Military Honors will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.

Donations, in Laurie's name, can be made to the Ontonagon County Animal Protection or the Ontonagon County Cancer Association.
