Eleanor "Ellie" Letson 81 passed away Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the Maple Manor Nursing Center.

She was born February 7, 1927 in Big Bay, MI to the late Ellsworth & Mabel Hamilton. Eleanor was a life long resident of Ontonagon County. She was married to Jack Letson and together they raised 2 daughters Susan & Judy.

Eleanor worked at local banks, paper mill and the Ontonagon hospital's Long Term Care Unit. She loved to pick berries and make strawberry jam, work in the garden and give the produce to the neighbors, fishing and camping. Eleanor was always game for playing cards or board games. Her crocheted afghans became a coveted traditional baby & wedding gift. She will be remembered and loved by all for her kindness, wit and endless energy.

Eleanor is survived by her 2 daughters Susan (Jim) Cruden and Judy (Jack) Yaklyvich, 2 grandchildren Jason and Joshua, 3 great-grandchildren, 6 sisters, 1 brother, 2 very special cousins Bernie and Betty Roehm and good friends Pete & Sue Kemppainen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother Viola, husband Jack and 2 infant children.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 10th at the Cane Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with pastor Rosemary DeHut officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home 1 hour prior to the start of the service. Friends may view Eleanor's obituary and leave condolences at canefuneralhome.com.
