ERIK JAY HOFFSTROM, 26 of Ontonagon and formerly of Ewen passed away Aug. 8. He was born on January 14, 1982 to Richard Hoffstrom and Debra Jacque Cowan.

Erik graduated from Ewen-Trout Creek in 2000. He worked for several local businesses and was currently employed at Char's Cafe in Bruce Crossing. Erik loved the outdoors. He liked to hunt, trap and fish. He loved taking his daughter snowmobiling and four-wheeling.

Erik is survived by his father Richard Hoffstrom of Ewen and his mother Debra Cowan of Bruce Crossing. He is also survived by a daughter Chloe Jae, his fiance Rhonda Heikkinen and her children Cassidy & Colton Heikkinen, all of Ontonagon, 1 brother Aron of Iron River, two half sisters: Jamie Pinar of Trout Creek and Tammy Blau of Lake Linden, a half brother Thomas Cowan of Calumet, and his grandmother Mary Jane Jacques of Hubbel, an uncle Randy (Melissa) Hoffstrom of Painesville, as well as several cousins, nieces & nephews.

Erik was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Urho & Elsie Hoffstrom, his maternal grandfather Dougie Jacque and an uncle, Roger Hoffstrom.

Funeral services will be held at Siloa Lutheran Church in Ontonagon, Monday August 18, 2008 at 2 pm. A private memorial will be held at a later date. A memorial fund has been set up at the State Bank of Ewen.
