Reverend Father David T. Harris 88 of Ontonagon passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital.

He was born August 13, 1920 in Winona, MI to the late Thomas and Pauline (Ceretto) Harris.

Father Harris began his career as an assistant at St. Sebastian Church in Bessemer and became Pastor of St. Louis Catholic Church in Harvey from 1954 to 1971. In 1971 he became Pastor at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Ontonagon. He served there until his retirement on June 24, 1995. Following his retirement, Father Harris lived at the St. Mary's Rectory in Rockland until health issues required that he move back to Ontonagon. On June 24, 2007 he was able to celebrate his 60th year as a priest.

Father Harris is survived by his cousins Beverly Rosato, David Seal, Shirley Anderson, Fran George and Joann Shaffer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 27th at 11 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Ontonagon, Most Reverend Bishop Alexander Sample officiating. Spring burial will take place in the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet. The Cane Funeral Home is assisting the family.
