Obituary

Frank Charles Uotila, 85, of Ontonagon passed away on November 30 2023.

Frank was born in Hancock, MI to Charles Uotila and Mildred (Uotila) Maloney on September 11, 1938. Frank grew up in Mass City and was a graduate of Mass City High School. Frank was united in marriage to the love of his life, Catherine Weza on November 24, 1962.

He served an enlistment in the US Air Force after graduation and served a tour of duty in France which he remembered fondly. He often spoke of the great food and friends he made while there. He worked at White Pine Copper Mine and the Village of Ontonagon water treatment plant.

Frank enjoyed many activities including golfing, bowling, hunting season at his camp, snowmobiling, fishing, trapping, playing cards, cribbage and frequent trips to the casino with his dear friend Steve. He honored his Finnish heritage and loved to take a good hot sauna. Frank was an avid sports fan and loved to watch basketball, hockey and football and was a die hard Red Wings and Packers fan.

Frank and Cathy will both be remembered for their many random acts of kindness and generosity. It was one of their greatest joys to support local causes and donate time and money to make someone else's life easier. They especially liked to help families over the holidays to make sure that the children had a great Christmas.

Frank is survived by nephew Michael (Jessie) Weza , nieces Denise (Ed) Zanto and Julie (Jamie) Monville, Sister-in-law, Nancy Weza. Great nephew and nieces, Ryan Curty, Stephanie and Lisa Weza, several cousins, friends, and numerous extended family members in the Maloney family.

Frank is preceded in death by his wife Cathy, his parents, brother-in-law Francis Weza, sister-in-law Helen Weza, nephews Ronald and Robert Weza, Great niece Michelle Weza, brothers John and Ronald Maloney and fur babies Bo, Dusty and Catcher.

Per Frank's wishes, no services will be held. Spring burial will be in the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery.
