George Joseph Buzzo was born on January 23, 1963 to Geraldine (La Duke) Wilson and John Wirkkala in L'Anse, Michigan.A He died suddenly at his home on Sunday, June 10, 2012.

George is a graduate from the Ontonagon Area High School, with the class of 1981. He also served in the United States Navy. He later moved to Bloomington, Minnesota where he worked in several factories including the Ford Motor company. He returned to Ontonagon in 2006.

He was married to the former Teresa Walior of Bloomington, Minnesota. He has three adult children Mitchell, Blake and Rachel. George has two grandsons, Quinell and Marcus.

George enjoyed music, fishing and restoring antique motorcycles. He was an avid Detroit Loins fan. He was an artist and enjoyed drawing wildlife prints. George enjoyed telling stories of memories spending time fishing, camping and biking with his children. He was pleased to be a grandfather.

George is survived by his children and grandsons Mitchell, Blake, Rachel, Quinell and Marcus. He is also survived A by his mother, Gerri A (Philip) Wilson, his biological father John (Ilene) Wirkkala and grandmother, Gladys (Johnson) Wirkkala. George is also survived by his siblings: John (Colleen) Buzzo, Denise (Kevin) Davidson, Deanne (Robert) Hill, Billie (Aleiah) Buzzo, Kim (Peter) Funke, Philip (Anke) Wilson and Robert (Tiki) Wilson. George was an uncle to following: John, Justin, Billie, Brittany, Bethany, Brendan, Bryce, and Brayden Buzzo, Kevin, Tyler, Taylor, and Hannah Davidson and Amber Hill. He is survived by several aunts and uncles: Jennifer (David) Bishop, David LaDuke, Patrick (Judy) LaDuke, Bretie (Fred) LaDuke , Cornelia (Joseph) LaDuke, George (Joyce) Wirkkala, Nancy (Duke) Trebilcock, Susie (Richard) McKay and Tommy (Mary) Buzzo. He also is survived by several cousins.

George was proceed in death by the following family members: Billie James Buzzo (father), Reino Wirkkala (grandfather), Al and Betty La Duke (grandparents), Albert and Myrtle Buzzo (grandparents), uncles Fredrick La Duke, James La Duke, Joseph La Duke, aunt Joan (LaDuke) Bobo, Bert and Mary Buzzo (uncle and aunt), and David Roberts (uncle), as well as nephews, Finley Padden, Dylan Davidson, Braycson Buzzo.

Funeral services for George will be held Friday, June 15 at 4 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Ontonagon, with Pastor David Whitaker officiating. Visitation will take place from 2-4 p.m. Following the service, inurnment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Ontonagon.
