Obituary

George V. Wentela 77 of Greenland passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital.

He was born December 14, 1931 in Mass City. George served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

During his working years he was employed by the White Pine Copper Mine. Following his retirement his hobbies were hunting and woods work.

George was preceded in death by his parents Einari & Lydia, grandparents, 2 uncles and an aunt.

He is survived by a sister Vivian Keranen, 3 nieces Barbara (Mike) Price, Carol (Bill) Orchard and Janet Keranen, 2 grand nieces Heather Berger and Holly Statum, 2 great-grand-nieces Kalen & Jaley and 1 great grand nephew Ethyn, as well as several cousins and numerous very close friends who helped him through his lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held Saturday August 22nd at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Mass City with Pastor John West officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place in the Maple Grove Cemetery ion Greenland. Military rites will be preformed by the Ontonagon County Veteran's Association.
