Gerald "Jerry" Pender of Ontonagon passed away May 21st 2010, at Portage Health System in Hancock.

Jerry was born June 15, 1939 in Ontonagon and graduated with the class of 1957 from Ontonagon Area High School and then served a term in the Navy.

On June 6th 1959 he married his high school sweetheart, Margaret "Maggie" Harris and they resided in Ontonagon and had three children. Jerry first worked at the White Pine Mine for a short time and then was employed at the paper mill until he retired in 2002. While working at the mill, he attended Gogebic Community College where he received his Associates Degree.

Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hunting, fishing and camping. He was also a lifetime member of the Norwich Country Club.

Surviving are his wife; Margaret of 51 years, daughters; Jill (with fiancAC. Daniel Destrampe) and Lynn Pender, Grandchildren; George "Willie" Bolo, Casey and Cory Tourtillott, Great Grandchildren; Fay, Matthew and John and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son; Gerald Pender, his Mother; Jean Lantry Pender, brother James Pender, uncles Jan and Gerald Lantry and Aunt Alice Lantry Frisk.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 27th at 3:00 p.m. at the Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon, MI. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Military rites will take place at the Ontonagon VFW Post 5600 and will be conducted by the Ontonagon County Veteran's Association following the memorial service.
