Harold H. "Zeke" Basney, Jr. 85 of Rousseau passed away at the Houghton County Medical Facility on Thursday, February 3, 2011.

He was born June 19, 1925 in Mt. Clemens, MI to the late Harold, Sr. & Romilda Basney. After completing high school, Harold served his country during World War II. He served in the Unites States Navy for 4 years and the Merchant Marines for 2.

He married Mary Ellen Dickinson and they resided in Marine City, MI. They moved to Rousseau in 1970 to allow Harold to pursue his passion for hunting and the outdoors. He was a member of the VFW Post 4167 in Mass City.

Harold is survived by his son Steven (LuAnne) Basney, daughter Laura (Sean) Crowley, grandchildren Alison and Natali Basney, Joel and Amberly Lukkari and Vincent and Jonas Crowley, sister Arlene DeCou and brother Donald Basney.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Basney and brothers Richard and William.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 9th at 1 p.m. at the Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon. Friends may call at the funeral home 1 hour prior to the start of the service. Spring burial will be in the Rousseau Cemetery.
