Obituary

Harry "Kayo" Pollard, age 84, of Ontonagon, passed away on January 8, 2015 at the Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital.

Kayo was born in Greenland, Michigan to Charles and Minnie (Perryman) Pollard on December 15, 1930. In 1951, at the age of 20, he was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corp. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart. Upon his discharge from the Marines, he came home to work on his brother-in-law Ken Coey's farm until he was hired at the White Pine Mine where he was employed for about a year. Kayo then moved to Milwaukee and worked as a delivery man for a local brewing company for a year or so and then returned to Michigan in the 1960's where he worked on the family farm and began working as a logger with his brother Frank until his retirement. In his younger days, Kayo enjoyed playing hockey and the outdoors. He loved to fish and hunt both rabbits and deer until more recent years when he simply enjoyed feeding and watching the deer.

Kayo is survived by his sister Annabelle Yaunke; brothers Frank and William (Marge); sister-in-law Betty; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews that he thought very fondly of, as well as his two dear friends Jim Pattison and Eugene "Ozzie" Cogswell.

Kayo is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Fred and George; sister June Coey; brother-in-law Kenny Coey; and sister-in-law Sally.

At the request of the deceased, no services will be held. Burial will take place at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Greenland at a later date. Cane Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Kayo's family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the caring Doctors, Nurses, Staff, EMT's and Paramedics of Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital who cared for him.
