Helen Somero, 89, of Greenland, passed away on June 12, 2011 at the Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital Long Term Care Unit.

She was born on March 15, 1922 in Hancock, Michigan to parents Matt and Katie Ollanketo. She graduated from Hancock High School and later married Edwin Somero. Helen enjoyed camping, crosswords, and Bingo at the Long Term Care Unit.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin; daughter, Evelyn; son, Kenneth; her parents and 9 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by daughter, Marilyn (Fred) Gregorich of Greenland; sons David (Cheryl) of Greenland and John of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Gary, Randy, Connie, Rick, David, Scott, and Chad; and 5 great-grandchildren.

In accordance with Helen's wishes, private services will be held. The Cane Funeral Home is assisting the family.
