Howard "Skip" Johns, 79, of White Pine passed away November 4, 2011 at his home.
He was born October 25, 1932 in Laona, Wisconsin to Howard and Elitha Johns. Skip served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1953. He was a proud member of the White Pine American Legion Post #462, and recently celebrated his 45th year of membership. He was also a Past Post Commander at Post #462. He was also a member of the Ottawa Sportsman's Club. Skip and his wife, Shirley, enjoyed spending their summers camping and were the campground hosts at Courtney Lake for 10 years and collected hundreds of Teddy Bears.
Skip is survived by his wife, Shirley; sister, Donna (Henry) Herman of Jacksonville, TX; children, Midge (Gordon) Summers and Lawrence "Larry" (Billy) Johns; and stepchildren, Michael (Angel) Pattison and Patricia Pattison. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Marjorie Moore and Lenore Johnston.
A memorial service with Military Honors for Skip will be held Wednesday, November 9th at 11 a.m. at the White Pine American Legion Post #462, with luncheon to follow the service.
