Obituary

Ida Wilson Kilmer Glaser died peacefully on 23 April 2007 surrounded by her children at Maple Manor Nursing Home in Ontonagon, Michigan.

Ida Wilson was born in Ontonagon on 27 February 1912 to John and Ida Wilson. She was orphaned at the age of 3 and raised by her father's brother Joseph and Catherine Wilson and their children Andrew and Alvina.

Ida graduated in 1929 from the Ontonagon school system, and then attended County Normal.

She and Alfred Ezeliah Kilmer, Jr. eloped to Libertyville, Illinois on 10 September 1934, and resided first with his parents in Greenland, Michigan before buying a home in Ontonagon in 1943 where they raised 5 children. Ida was widowed in 1964.

Ida worked as a deputy county treasurer with Fred and Grace Dreiss, and later worked as a clerk for Rosemurgy's Department Store.

Ida was active in the Siloa Lutheran Church all of her life. She was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Mom was always ready to lend a helping hand whether preparing the Swedish meatballs for the annual smorgasbord, or providing transportation to church every Sunday.

She was a loving wife and mother and a generous, caring member of the community who will be greatly missed.

In 1972 she married Fred Glaser Sr. in an Ecumenical service at Siloa Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her natural parents, John and Ida Wilson, her adoptive parents Joseph and Catherine Wilson, adoptive siblings Andrew and Alvina Wilson, first husband Alfred Kilmer, second husband Fred Glaser, her brothers Bill Beck and George Wilson, her sister Edith Sanderson, her eldest son Richard Kilmer, and great granddaughter Alexandra Builta.

Ida is survived by her daughter Carol (Vern) Dalback, son William (Kathy) Kilmer, son Fred Glaser Jr., daughter Jean Lockhart, daughter Joan (George) Nygard, daughter Penny (Dan) Rellis, 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Cane Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 5 to 8 pm with an Eastern Star service at 7 pm. There will be visitation on Friday for an hour preceding the funeral service at 1 pm at Siloa Lutheran Church. Internment will be at the Riverside Cemetery followed by a luncheon at Siloa Lutheran Church.
