Jack Thomas Broemer, 82 of Ontonagon was granted his angel wings on June 29, 2014 at the Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital after a short battle cancer. His loving family was by his side.

He was born September 17, 1931 in Ontonagon, son of the late George and Marie (Doverspike) Broemer. He was a graduate of Ontonagon High School and was also a Veteran of the Korean War. On June 18, 1955, he was united in marriage to Lorraine Wiedbrauk, who preceded him in death on March 9, 2004.

Jack worked for the White Pine Copper Co., Hawley Lumber Co., and Smurfit-Stone until his retirement. He was also involved in the Ontonagon Fire Department. Jack was also a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church.

Jack loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends. He enjoyed his Detroit Tigers and Green Bay Packer games. He also enjoyed playing cribbage with family and friends.

Jack is survived by his children: Paris Broemer of Iron Mountain, Terri (James) Laingren of Ontonagon, Robin Broemer of Midland, MI, Brian (Stephanie) Broemer of Midland, MI and Duane Broemer of Auburn, MI; grandchildren: Stacy Laingren, James Laingren II, Nichole Broemer, Danielle Broemer, Coty Broemer, Anthony Broemer, Chelsea Broemer and Kaline Broemer; great-grandchildren: Kylie, Hunter, Lillian, Siera, Damian, Madelyn, Katelynn, Dakota and Isaac; brother Raymond (Cathy) Broemer of Ontonagon; sisters Lorraine Singewald of Chippewa Falls, WI, Maxine Stuesser of Ontonagon, Doris Craw of Jackson, MI, Arlene (Donald) Simula of Baraga, and Janet (Jack) Robeson of Ontonagon. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers Frank and Darrel; and sisters Dorothy Brownell and Irene Walimaki.

A Memorial Service for Jack will be held Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 4 p.m. at the Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery.
