IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jack
Hermanson
February 24, 1944 – January 17, 2013
Jack "Yuska" Hermanson, 68, of Mass City passed away unexpectedly on January 17, 2013 at his home.
Jack was born in Ontonagon on February 24, 1944 to Walfred and Alma (Kemppainen) Hermanson. He attended the Mass School. Jack worked in the woods for the railroad and was employed at the White Pine Copper Mine for ten years. He loved four-wheeling, riding his scooter, daily walks with his dog Buddy, and attending the stock car races at the Adventure Mountain Race Track in the summers. Jack was known for his sunny disposition and a smile that radiated friendship to everyone he encountered. The neighbors could set their clocks each day as he made his way to the Post Office and picked up the mail for family members, visited with the folks and shared the local news and events. Jack was a regular at the St. Paul's neighborhood kitchen suppers on the third Monday of the month, attended the Senior Citizen lunches every Tuesday and Thursday where he enjoyed playing bingo and visiting with friends, and of course went to Friday Night Fish Fry at Grandma Myrt's Cafe. Yuska will be sorely missed by his family, neighbors and friends.
Jack is survived by sisters Betty (Bill) Latvis and Denise Wilcox (Herb Johnson) of Mass City and brother James (Sara) of Birmingham, MI. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Walfred; mother Alma; step-father Bernard; brothers Jerry and Gary; sister Delores; niece Stacy; and nephews Billy and Gary John.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Jack will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Mass City, with Reverend Micheal Laakko officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will be served in the Fellowship Hall immediately following.
Spring burial will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Greenland.
Donations in memory of Yuska can be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Mass City.
