Jack L. Staff, age 86, a prominent Ewen businessman passed away on September 20, 2012, surrounded by his family.

He was born on February 3, 1926 in Marquette, MI to the late John and May (Peterson) Staff and stepmother, Mary (Garrick) Staff.

Jack graduated from Trout Creek High School and entered the U.S. Army where he served in Europe during World War II. He attended barber school and had his shop in Ewen for 62 years. He was also employed at the Ontonagon County Road Commission for 15 years before retiring. Jack was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ewen, MI. He was a member of the American Legion Post 41 for 46 years, of which he was the commander for 30 years. He loved the outdoors and was an active member of the community.

Jack married Jeannette Spargo on June 2, 1951 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ewen, MI.

Jack is survived by his wife; 2 sons: Dan (Sue) Staff and John (Carla) Staff; 2 daughters: Sandy Tulppo and Nancy (Mark) Voigt; and daughter-in-law Kelly Staff, all of Ewen, MI; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mike; 1 brother and 4 sisters.

Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ewen, MI, with Father Sebastian Ettolil and Father Brian Gerber presiding. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial with Military Rights will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Ewen, MI.
