Jeanne Maria Mogan, age 80, of Ontonagon, MI, passed peacefully on February 26, 2010 after an illness of several months.

Jeanne was born October 20, 1929 in Laurium, MI, and moved to Ontonagon with her family in 1941 She graduated in 1947 as class salutatorian.

In 1949, she married George D. Mogan and lived in the New York City area for several years before returning to Ontonagon to raise her family. There she began a career which included work at the Ontonagon County Clerk's office, local assistant to Congressman John B. Bennett, and then 32 years as office manager for Drs. Archibald, Lahti, and Gervae.

She was also active with the Ontonagon VFW Auxiliary and the Northern Lights Good Sams Club.

On retirement, Jeanne was a frequent traveler to the Southwest, wintering in Santee, CA and Benson, AZ. Where she enjoyed visits with the many friends she met during her travels.

Hobbies included berry picking, cooking, baking, camping, and gardening at their Potato River Farm.

She is survived by her husband George; two children Linda (Karl) Wadman Jr. of Ontonagon and Mountain Iron, MN; Michael (Ann) Mogan of Pinckney, MI; three grandchildren, Brian (Leone) Mogan. Pinckney, MI; Patrick (Kristin) Mogan White Lake, MI; and Shane (Jolene) Wadman of Ontonagon, MI; and three great grandchildren. One sister, Ruth Arkelin of Green Bay, WI also survives.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Maria and Eric Edwin Olson, brothers Ray, Robert, Richard and Russell Olson, and sisters Ethel Dover and Shirley Fors.

Visitation services will be held Monday, March 1st from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon. Funeral services will take place Tuesday March 2nd at 10:30 a.m. at the Cane Funeral Home with Pastor Howard Neider officiating. Friends may also call on Tuesday one half hour prior to the start of the service. Spring burial will be in the Holy Family Cemetery in Ontonagon.
