Obituary

Jeannette Marion Marley, of Ontonagon, MI, passed away on August 3, 2025, at Omega House in Houghton, MI. Jeannette was 90 years old.

Jeannette was born in Green, MI to Matt and Nellie Utter on February 4, 1935. She attended and graduated from Ontonagon High School and went on to become the County Abstractor where she worked for more than 30 years. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, gardening, sewing, and spending quality time with family. She married her beloved husband John Marley in 1983.

Jeannette will forever be remembered for her unwavering generosity, infectious laugh, and telling family stories. Jeannette was bold, strong, and known for her SISU. She was described by others as having a heart of gold, certain in her beliefs and who she was, and consistently showing selfless love to those around her.

Jeannette is survived by her two children,  Midge Axley and Larry (Billy) Johns,  nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Jeannette is preceded in death by her parents, Nellie and Matt Utter, sisters Helen (Carl) Aho, Patsy (Bob) White, Geri (Al) Trainer and Karen (Clayton) Rogers and her brother Mike (Mary) Utter, as well as her beloved husband John Marley.

Jeannette was an avid supporter and contributor to St. Judes Children Hospital and the Wounded Warrior Project. Those who wish may donate to either of these charities in Jeannette name.

In lieu of a funeral service, a celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.

The family wants to thank the doctors and staff of Aspirus Hospice, Omega House and Cane Funeral Home for the outstanding care given to our mother.
