JEWEL KITZMAN 97 years old passed away peacefully at home on February 22, 2007 with family at her bedside. Jewel was born September 30, 1909 in Bergland daughter of the late Mary Ellen (Webb) Livingston and Bert Livingston.
Jewel was married to William (Bill) Kitzman April 8, 1930, Jewel was a loving, caring person going without to see the kids were taken care of first, Jewel was a terrific grandma, great grandma great great grandma, and will be sadly missed by her family, friends and all that knew and loved her.
Jewel is predeeded in death by her husband Bill , her first born Peter William on April 6, 1987 and a infant son albert, her parents Bert and Mary Ellen Livingston, 6 sisters: Margurite, (Doo-Doo) Helen, Louella, Dorothy, Mary (sis), Ida (little black crow) 7 brothers: Jack, Mike, Bem, Bud, baby Albert baby John, baby Mike.
Jewel is survived by 3 daughters Wildah (Dean) Smith of Ironwood, Geogia (Mel) Maake of Saxon, and Barbara Powell of Matchwood. 5 Sons: Patrick (Ann) of Topaz Gerald ((Sandy) of Topaz Thomas (Renota) of Manistique James (Mary) of Newberry, and Guy (Mary) of Topaz, 2 sisters: Pat (Jack) roehm fo Ontonagon and Katheline Livingston of Ontonagon, 1 brother: Arthur James (little buddy) livingston of Orouil 33 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren.
Jewel and Bill made their home on the Kitzman family farm in Topaz where they raised dairy cattle together they raised a family of 9 and spent many happy years together, in 1953 they lost their barn to a fire and Bill found work in lower Michigan Jewel still had 5 children in school and to help make ends meet Jewel took her children and went into the pulp field, 2 mules a buck saw, she peeled pulp with her son guy till age 93.
Jewel and Guy started the dairy herd back up and shipped milk. she enjoyed working with the cattle and each cow had a special name, for many years Jewel raised collie dogs, trained and sold them all over the U.S.A.
Jewel was a great bingo fan every friday night she was set to go to Ewen and see all her friends and play bingo Billy Platske and that special little hug always ment so much, Jewel lived in many different places and did many intereesting things in her childhood. She was miss Flint by winning a beaty contest, jumped from hot air balloons and was one of the best horseback riders around.
Jewel went to school at Norwich where she lived as a child for many years. she had a special place (lonesome Pine) where she would go and sit under, tell it all her dreams and troubles. Jewel loved gardening, and canning for her family making christmas wreaths, quilt making, crocheting knitting, cake decorating, candy making and the best bread baker ever, just to name a few, most of all Jewel loved her children and worked hard to see they were all safe and not wanting. Jewel loved to write poetry and songs.
At Jewel's request cremation will take place a memorial mass will be held 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Chruch in Ewen with Father Chacko Kakany officiating with 1 hour visitatiion on March 3, 2007, spring burial will be in Bergland. Dennis Brown of the Cane Funeral Home is assisting the family.
