IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John
Cherro
August 19, 1931 – December 27, 2024
On December 27, 2024, at the Baraga County Hospital our father, John Cherro, passed away and started his heavenly adventure with all of his loved ones before him.
He was born August 19, 1931, in Aurora, Minnesota to Raphael and Mary Cherro. He resided and attended school in Aurora until he entered the Army and was stationed in Germany.
On March 21, 1953, he married the love of his life Doris Duncan, after meeting her only months earlier on a blind date set up by his cousin. They were married 65 years before she preceded him in death in 2018.
Our Dad was a hard-working jack of all trades. He built the house we grew up in, sheds, barns and even a tree house. He could fix cars, tractors and anything with a motor. He worked at the White Pine Copper Mine and the Paper Mill until his retirement. He then started the Munchkin Stump Tree Trimming/Stump Grinding business.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, wife Doris, son Johnny, son-in-law Steve, many special nieces and nephews along with his beloved cat Mocha.
He is survived by his two daughters Susan and Tammy, his two grandchildren of whom he was very proud, Cameron and Shea (Andy) and two great grandchildren Penelope and Theodore. He was amazed that he lived long enough to have two great grandchildren. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and many very good friends.
