John Axel Myllylahti 84 of Rockland passed away May 6, 2008 at the Maple Manor Nursing Center in Ontonagon.

He was born November 13, 1923 in Rockland to Axel & Maria (Louko) Myllylahti. John was a retired electrician who had been employed by the White Pine Copper Mine. He was married to his wife Xerpha Marie on January 31, 1959. During his life, John enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.

He is survived by his sons Robert Myllylahti, Andy Harju, Jamie Harju and Carl Croschere, daughter Lollita Cole, nephew Donald Olson and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his wife Xerpha, parents, sisters Hilda Olson and Lillian Wineman, niece Beatrice Wineman and nephew William Olson.

Graveside services will be held Friday, May 16th at 1 p.m. at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Rockland. Friends may view John's obituary and leave condolences at canefuneralhome.com.
