John Andrew Somero 59 of Tucson, AZ went to be with his heavenly Father on July 11, 2023.

John was born in Baraga, MI March 14, 1964, the son of Edwin & Helen (Ollanketo) Somero. He lived in Greenland, MI and graduated from the Ontonagon Area High School.

After graduation, John served in the Air Force from 1982-1986. Upon his discharge, he enlisted in the Air Force Reserves from 1986-1990.

John trained for electronics and worked for the Arizona Lottery for several years. He then followed his true passion and went to Pima College for his LPN license. Upon completion of his schooling, he went to work for the VA in Tucson, AZ where he was instrumental in the planning and developing of an Alzheimer's Unit where he worked for several years. He then started his 28-year career at the VA Clinic in Tucson. John was honored as the 5th highest ranking LPN in Tucson. He was also presented with the prestigious Daisy Award for his exceptional care, compassion and outstanding work ethic.

John was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Evelyn Somero & Marilyn (Gregorich) Somero and a brother Kenneth Somero.

He is survived by his brother David (Cheryl) Somero, many nieces and nephews, special friend Lynn Derosier and numerous friends and co-workers in Arizona.

There will be a graveside service for John at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Greenland, MI on Saturday, September 9 at 1:30 pm with Pastor Michael Laakko officiating. Military rites will be preformed by the Ontonagon County Veteran's Association. A luncheon will follow at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Mass City.
