Obituary

Joletta Lyn Kaat, 49 of Bruce Crossing MI went home to be with her heavenly Father on September 5, 2025 surrounded by family and friends.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband John L Kaat, and her children Nathan (Alex) Kaat, Keila Kaat, Justus (Ashley) Kaat, Seth (Jenna) Kaat, Levi (Kailey) Kaat, Jared Kaat, Shoshana Kaat, Eliya Kaat, and Derek Kaat; by her grandchildren Jesiah, Patience, Emery, Micah, Skyla, and Taylyn; her mother Janet Van Hierden; three sisters Nelina Van Hierden, Calinda (Dave) Slingerland, and Andrelei (Bert) Grisnich; and her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Tammy (Pete) Mittnacht, Jeff (Sandy) Kaat, David (Amy) Kaat, Tim (Alida) Kaat, Stephen Kaat, Lois (Luke) Byers, Joel Kaat, Sarah (Dan) Wandel, Mary Kaat, and Elisabeth Kaat; and her many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and loved ones.

Joletta was born in Alberta, Canada on May 16, 1976. She was the oldest of 4 sisters and loved the open spaces and life on her family ranch. She met John at a church camp in Idaho in 1992 and they were married 2 years later. She enjoyed working alongside her husband John at Primrose Acres (excavating). She was known by many as she worked tirelessly helping clients, employees and families meet their needs. Joletta loved to worship and praise her Heavenly King and her ardent desire was to support John in ministry and finish well in Messiah and not let His Glory be compromised in any way. She passed on her great love of farming to her children. One of her favorite places was to be digging in her flower gardens. She loved baling hay, taking care of her animals, raising vegetables to feed her family, and just sharing in the wonder of finding small things like a robin's nest in the spring. Whether she was pruning her fruit trees or reading the Scriptures, her passion was to pass on the amazing love of God in Christ, teaching her children, grandchildren and loved ones. One of her dreams was to organize her library with all the books she collected over the years for her family to be able to enjoy in the generations to come. Through the years she enjoyed going for rides to see the wonders of Creation and she found great peace just sitting on the shore of Lake Superior and looking off into the distance with the water lapping at her toes.

Joletta was preceded in death by her stillborn son Joshua; by her nephews, Jaymun Kaat and Jason Slingerland; her father-in-law, Richard Kaat; and by her father, Gerrit Van Hierden.

Joletta's family would like to express their gratitude for all who have supported her in various ways, especially in the last years.
