Joseph Lobeck 61 of Ontonagon and previously of Jacksonville, FL passed away Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital.
He was born August 4, 1946 in Chicago, IL to Ardell Marshall and Anna Irene Lobeck. Joseph attended Ontonagon High School and Gogebic Community College. He worked for many years as a welder in the Ontonagon paper mill and then in Florida for the rail road. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Navy with the Seabees. After discharge from active duty, Joseph served for many years in the Naval Reserves. He was also a member of the Eagles Club and a lifetime member of the VFW.
He was preceded in death by his father Ardell and former wife Nancy (Steel) Lobeck.
Joseph is survived by his mother Anna Irene Lobeck, 4 children Joseph, Michelle, James and Billie Jean, 8 grandchildren, 2 brothers Allan (Dana) Lobeck and Pat (Linda) Lobeck, 3 sisters, Marsha (John) Fritzinger, Janet (Calvin Kostamo) Raymond and Janice Ambrose
Memorial services will be held Friday, August 8th at 2 p.m. at the Siloa Lutheran Church in Ontonagon with Pastor Penny Olson officiating. Friends may call at the church 1 hour prior to the start of the service. The Cane Funeral Home is assisting the family.
