Kandy (Karttunen) Richardson of Ontonagon passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital after a short illness, with her husband and family by her side.

She was born November 27, 1962 in Ontonagon, daughter of David and Pauline (Conrad) Karttunen. She graduated from White Pine High School in 1981 and went on to attend the Gogebic Community College where she received her degree in Cosmetology.

She was the owner and operator of her own shops; Styles by Design in Baraga for several years and in Ontonagon; Superior Wave. She was a very kind and loving person and she loved her customers as they were like family to her. Special thank you to them.

Kandy enjoyed walking the beach with her little dog "Chico", fishing on Lake Superior and in Alaska with her husband, snow shoeing with her friends, "The Dream Girls," working in her flower garden and taking occasional trips to the casino.

She is survived by her husband J.R. (James) Richardson, parents, David and Pauline Karttunen, one brother, Todd of Ontonagon, sister-in-law, Barbara of California, nieces and nephews, Kyle and Rebecca Karttunen and Shannon and Ryan Huff, aunts, uncles and many cousins.

Kandy was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Out of respect for her wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of life is being arranged at their lake house. Kandy was a deeply caring lady that dearly loved her family and friends and customers that she loved to serve thru the years. She was a beautiful lady that passed to soon.
