Obituary

Kathryn L. (Cruse) Dickerson 100 of Ontonagon passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at the Maple Manor Nursing Center in Ontonagon.

She was born in Centerville, MI on March 30, 1909 to the late Herman & Catherine Cruse. Kathryn graduated in 1927 from Otsego High School and in 1931 from Western Michigan University.

She taught school in Concord & Parma, MI. On June 4, 1932 Kathryn married George Lee Dickerson in Jackson, MI. Upon George's retirement they lived in Victoria and then in 1980 moved to the Greenwood Apartments in Ontonagon.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, had charge of the American Red Cross for over 50 years, a member of the Eastern Star in Ewen, the food pantry. She was a volunteer for many years at long term care and maple manor.

In 1996 she received the county community action award.

She liked flying, hunting, fishing, baking and also knitting.

Kathryn is survived by 5 grandchildren Mark, Mary, Melissa, Michael and Karen, 13 great-grandchildren, beloved niece Pat and beloved nephews Bill and Kyle and many other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents, husband 2 sons Robert and Bernard, 2 brothers and 1 sister.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 11th at 2 p.m. at the Riverside Cemetery in Ontonagon. Donations may be made to the food pantry or the Ontonagon County Historical Society.
