Laura Hokkanen 91 of Ontonagon passed away Monday, March 31, 2008 at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital's Long Term Care Unit.

She was born January 21, 1917 in Ontonagon to Carl & Hilda (Virtanen) Koistinen. In November of 1934 Laura was united in marriage to Ernest Hokkanen, Sr. She worked in various area restaurants and was a long time care giver to Mrs. Marie Green.

Laura is survived by her daughter Delores (Harold) Peltola of Trout Creek, 2 grandchildren Vincent (Darcy) Hokkanen of Andover, MN and Shannon Nurmi of Bruce Crossing, 3 great-grandchildren Chelsea Nurmi of Bruce Crossing and Kaleb and Addison Hokkanen of Andover, MN, a sister-in-law, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernest Hokkanen, Sr., 3 sons Ernest William, Ernest Lawrence and Neil Hokkanen, 5 brothers William, Wilfred, Onni, Berger and Carl, 2 sisters Linna and Liala.
