Lawrence A. Hamm 101 of Ontonagon died on Thursday, June 9, 2016 in his home after a prolonged illness.

He was born in Ontonagon on September 5, 1914 to Elmer & Lottie Hamm.  Mr. Hamm married Delilah Picotte of Ontonagon in Ontonagon.  They were married for 73 years, all spent in Ontonagon.  He worked all over the U.P. as a logger and heavy equipment operator.

Mr Hamm was preceded in death by his wife, oldest daughter Nancy McManus, youngest son Gaylord and 2 grandsons Timmy Briske & Gilbert Hamm, Jr.

He is survived by son Gilbert Hamm, Sr., daughter Judith (Jim) Griffin and sons John (Susie) Hamm & Lawrence R. (Mary) Hamm, as well as numerous grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces, nephews and cousins throughout the country.

A graveside service will take place on Monday, June 13th at 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Cemetery with Father Michael Jacobus officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Ontonagon County Veteran's Association.

The Cane Funeral Home of Ontonagon is assisting the family.
