Linda Joan (Roberts) Orcutt, 71, of White Pine, Michigan passed away on Sep 21, 2014 at Omega House in Houghton, Michigan.
Linda was born in Ontonagon, Michigan to Thomas and Ottilia (Trinko) Roberts on Feb 13, 1943. She attended school in Rockland Michigan, graduating with a class of four students in 1960. She worked as a secretary for the Dick Wagner Insurance Agency, where she met Michael Orcutt while he was home visiting his parents at the Ranger Station after his discharge from the Coast Guard. Linda and Michael were married on July 18, 1964 in Rockland, Michigan. After their honeymoon in Niagara Falls, they traveled for three years down the east coast and southern United States for his job with a utility contracting company. After the birth of their daughter Mary, they moved back to Michigan, and settled in White Pine.
Linda worked at the Red Owl grocery store in White Pine, the Porcupine Mountain Ski Hill gift shop and concession, sewing for Scandinavian Designs, the Konteka Coffee Shop, was the baker at the mall in White Pine, and worked for the Porcupine Mountain State Park at the visitor center. She loved the mountains, and with her friends hiked nearly every trail in the park.
Linda was a devoted wife and mother, her children and grandchildren were a constant source of love and joy. Linda enjoyed reading, being outdoors in the Porkies, snowmobiling, downhill skiing, partridge hunting, crocheting, canning, cooking, baking and wild berry picking, particularly thimbleberries. She also enjoyed a good joke and the many crazy adventures her brother Dave took her on.
Linda is survived by her husband of fifty years Michael Orcutt, daughter Mary (Paul) Werch, son Wallace (Amy) Orcutt, sisters Dwyn and Ann, brothers Clint and John, and grandchildren Madeline, Megan, Jack, Sydney, Emily, Natalie, and McClaine.
Linda is preceded in death by parents Thomas and Ottilia Roberts, her sister Joyce, and twin brothers Dave and Steve.
Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 25 at the Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon, with the funeral to follow at 2:00, Pastor Rosemary DeHut of the White Pine Methodist Church officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Methodist Church in Rockland, Michigan.
The family of Linda wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Marcia Shea, and also to the Long Term Care staff at Aspirus for helping us with Linda's care during her time with Alzheimer's. Family would also like to thank Pastor Rosemary DeHut and the members of the Methodist Church in White Pine for the comfort and friendship that was so important to her.
