Lucia Lydia Peterson, 85, of Ontonagon, MI passed away 11/24/07 at Aspirus Long Term Care Facility in Ontonagon, MI.
She was born to John & Hilma (Kaupinen) Wettberg March 10, 1922 at their farm in Simar and was the youngest of 10 children.
Besides the love for her family and extended family, Lucy was an avid reader, enjoyed all types of music, bird watching and her cat. Lucy & her husband, Philip, lived in Detroit after they were first married as teens and later moved to Nisula and then Lake Mine where they raised their family. After the death of her husband in February of 1984 Lucy moved to Ontonagon where she lived until the present. Lucy had been a member of the Ontonagon VFW Auxillary and attended St Paul's Lutheran Church in Mass City, MI.
Lucy is survived by one sister, Hilja Maki, two sons, Charles Marvin Peterson of Westland, MI, James (Connie) Peterson of Ontonagon, MI and one daughter, Cheryl (Theodore) Coffey of Greenland, MI. She has 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Lucy was preceded in death by her husband Philip, two daughters, Phyllis Peterson and Sheila Peterson, a son Philip (Gary) Peterson, a daughter-in-law Mary (Marvin) Peterson and long time friend and companion Chester Maki.
A memorial service will be held December 6th at 1 p.m. at St Paul's Lutheran Church in Mass City, MI.
