Marshall Eidar Hirvela of Ontonagon passed away at his home on September 7, 2007.
He was born April 29, 1928 in South range, MI to Eidar & Ella (Heikkila) Hirvela. Marshall served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II with the 8th Squadron 3rd Bombing group.
He had been employed as a foreman at Copper Range Mining in White Pine and was a member of the North Country Snowmobile Club. Marshall groomed snowmobile trails for 14 years.
Marshall is survived by 4 children Daniel Hirvela, Debbie (Bob Shaft) Hirvela, James (Diane) Hirvela and Sheri (Keith) Myhren, grandchildren Lori (Russ) Ganter, Kimberly (Chris) Heikkila, Jeffrey Voss, Stephanie and Sara Hirvela, Bradley and Katie Myhren and Joshua, Jason and Kristin Hirvela, great-grandchildren Madelyn and Nathan Heikkila and Tyler and soon to be 4th great grandchild Ganter, sisters Clara (Earl) Johnson and Margaret (Wendell) Maidment, and his special friend Lisa.
A memorial service will be held at the Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon Thursday, September 13th at 4 p.m. Pastor Penny Olson officiating. Friends are invited to gather 1 hour prior to the start of the service. Military rights preformed by the Ontonagon County Veteran's Association will take place at the Cane Funeral Home at 4 p.m. Friends may view Marshall's obituary and leave condolences at canefunerlahome.com.
