Mary J.  Domitrovich died at the age of 96 on June 6, 2024, at home surrounded by her family and caregivers after a short illness.

She was born February 6, 1928, in Ashland, WI, daughter of the late Mijo (Mike) and Mary Dosovic  Amich.  She moved to Ontonagon at the age of 18.

She graduated from the Ontonagon Area High School.   In 1948 she married Frank A. Domitrovich and they had 6 children.  They operated a farm on the Norwich Road in Ontonagon for many years.

For many years Mary worked for the State of Michigan transporting children to Marquette, Michigan.  She was on the Ontonagon County Jury Board and member of the Holy Family Catholic Church Women's Circle.  She was also treasurer of the Michigan Club for Tucson Estates where she and Frank wintered.  Frank and Mary built and operated the Greenwood Apartments in Ontonagon since 1980.

Mary loved cooking, gardening, playing cards (and winning!) being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved visiting with people and made many friends over the years.  She and Frank spent over 30 years wintering in Tucson, AZ, and inspired many friends and relatives to do the same thing over the years.

Mary and Frank enjoyed traveling, and visited Canada, Yugoslavia, Australia, Mexica, Alaska, Hawaii and most of the continental United States.

Mary was so fortunate to have been able to spend her last years at  her own home and that made her so happy.  She had wonderful loving caregivers  and her family will be forever grateful that Amy Truscott coordinated  the caregivers so that Mary was never alone.

Mary is survived by Carl (Sara), Dorothy (Don) Bussiere, Cathy Saffer, Tom (Denise),  Jerry (Julie) and eleven grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, soon to be 20!  She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and brother-in-law George (Judy) Domitrovich, Sisters in laws Dorothy (Tom) Condon, Karen Domitrovich, Nancy Domitrovich and Janet Domitrovich as well as numerous Domitrovich in-laws.

Mary was proceeded in death by her husband Frank, son John, her parents and sisters (Marie, Julia, Agnes, Catherine) and brothers (Paul, John, Emil, Aleck and Roy).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Ontonagon with Fr. Michael Jacobus as celebrant.  The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.  The rite of committal and internment will follow at the Holy Family Cemetery.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers that contributions in memory of Mary be made to the Domitrovich Family Barn Preservation Fund, care of Joe Domitrovich, 22844 Domitrovich Rd, Ontonagon, MI, 49953 or a charity of your choice.
