Mary L. Polecheck, 85, of Duluth, MN passed away peacefully Wednesday November 30, 2011 at Chris Jensen Nursing Home.

Mary was born at home in Anvil, Michigan to John and Rose Rosiek on Feb. 3, 1926.She married Elton John Polecheck on April 4, 1945 in Sturgeon Bay Wisc.

Mary worked as a welder on the big ships during World War II. She played guitar in her younger days for a radio station in Bessemer. She was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in White Pine, Michigan. She worked as a cook in Silver City for the Foothills and Paul's Supper Club. She and her husband Elton ran the Mary L Fishing Charter boat for 30 years. Mary loved to hunt and fish. They enjoyed their beautiful yard with the large vegetable gardens, fruit trees and berry patches. They supplied many flowers to the church and to the supper club for various holidays. In her later years you could find Mary reading in her prayer books and working in the word search puzzle books.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, John Kempa and Eddy Rosiek; her sisters, Ann Rosiek and Helen Charleboix; and her husband, Elton from White Pine, MI.. Mary is survived by her sons, Jonathan (Jan) of Duluth, MN and Leonard (Andrea) of Iron River, WI.; grandchildren, Chad (Cheri) Polecheck of Esko, Nannette ( Scott) Reese of Atlanta, Ga, and Joseph ( Jess) Polecheck of Superior, Wi.; great grandchildren Ivy and Iris Polecheck, Autumn Reese and Ethan Polecheck; sister Frances ( Don) Olson and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday December 6th at the Holy Family Catholic church in Ontonagon, MI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon. Spring interment will take place at Holy Family Cemetery in Ontonagon.
