Mary Szaroletta, 81, of Ontonagon passed away unexpectedly on December 10, 2012 as Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital.

Mary was born in Menominee, MI to Michael and Clara Demeuse on April 10, 1931. She went to school in Menominee and also attended schools of poetry and music. Before marriage, she met her future husband while working at AC Sparkplug. She married John Szaroletta on June 19, 1954 in Menominee.

Over the years, Mary was an active volunteer in her church and community in many capacities, such as President of the Altar Guild, Girl Scout leader, catechism teacher and she displayed her musical talent in the church choir (of which she was a charter member) and in the Kitchen Band. In addition to singing, she loved to ski, bowl, bird watch, dance and write poetry.

Mary is survived by her husband, John Szaroletta; her five children: Cheryl Fedrizzi, Mary (Greg) Ogan, John M. Szaroletta, Bonita Homrich and Sandra (David) Hutto; her sister Louella Kolanda; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Michael and Clare Demeuse and her brother Ralph Demeuse.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 17, 2012 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Ontonagon; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. with Father Michael Jacobus as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Ontonagon.
