Matt W. Peterson, 28, of Mass City passed away on June 18, 2014 at home.

Matt was born in Ontonagon to Larry and Barbara (Lemantine) Peterson on April 9, 1986. He graduated from Ontonagon Area Schools/Superior School. He worked at various jobs, was a cook, and most recently, a logger. Matt was a Veteran of the US Army, 10th Mountain Division. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed all outdoor activities. He was a very kind, caring person who was always willing to help out. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Matt is survived by his parents, Larry & Barbara; sisters Leticia & Berta; chosen brother Scott; uncles and aunts Norman & Mary, Robert, Donna, Fran, Flo, Nancy & Victor, Janet and Diane; cousins Lori, Roger, Carrie & Bill; Roy Jr., David, Rocky, Kirk & Allison, Willy and Jimmy; nieces Lillie and Emma and nephew James. He is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service for Matt will be held Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 4 p.m. at the Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. and continue until the time of service. Inurnment with Military Honors will follow at the Alston Cemetery. The Cane Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Matt's parents wish to extend their sincere thanks to Scott Jackson, Steve Morris, Travis Hall and Tim Mayhew for always being there for Matt and each other.
