Michael D. Jacobus, 74 passed away on October 11, 2025, at UPHS Marquette in Marquette, MI.
Mike, aka "Jake", was born May 22, 1951, in Lansing MI to Pauline and Duane Jacobus. He graduated from Everett High School Lansing in June of 1969. Mike then attended the Police Academy and Lansing Community College. After graduating, he was a police officer and deputy sheriff for the Ingham County Sheriff's Department. He was there for 30 years and retired from the department in 2002. He also sold cars and insurance. He was a member of the F.O.P. (Fraternal Order of Police), the Harley Owners Group and the Knights of Columbus. He loved riding motorcycles all his life and he traveled all over the country. Hobbies he enjoyed were golf, fishing, and photography. He enjoyed watching football, baseball and NASCAR. He moved to the Upper Peninsula in 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela, son Fr. Michael Jacobus, sister Susan Rice (Fred). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Duane and Pauline, and infant daughter Michelle.
Funeral services will take place at 11: 00 a.m. on Saturday October 25, 2025, at Holy Family Catholic Church with rosary and visitation at 10:00 a.m. prior to mass. Father Brian Gerber from Our Lady of Peace in Ironwood will be officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Family Cemetery, Ontonagon.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all the medical personnel that took such great care of him: the ICU team at UPHS Marquette, Baraga County Medical Center in L'Anse, and Aspirus Ironwood Hospital. We are also grateful for all the kind words, prayers, and wishes that everyone has shared with us.
