Michael Dean Norris, age 61, of Ontonagon, Michigan passed away on May 29, 2009 at his home after a courageous battle with neuroendocrine pancreatic cancer.

Michael was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 17, 1947, the son of the late Gerald Raymond Norris and surviving mother, Jeanne Marie Weisen. Following his attendance at Chadsey Trade School in Detroit, Michael enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on August 20, 1966, and was in active service during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Medal and a Sharpshooter Rifle Badge.

Following his enlistment, Mr. Norris married his high-school sweetheart, Peggy Marcus, on April 13, 1968 in North Carolina and raised 3 children. His occupation provided him and his family the opportunity to travel and reside throughout the United States, and Mr. Norris traveled the world for business.

Michael believed in hard-work and led by example, always showing his love for God and nature. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed boating, fishing, and hunting. Michael will be remembered as a loving and faithful husband, a dedicated father, and a fun-loving grandfather, who always put family first.

Michael Norris is survived by his wife of 41 years, Peggy Norris of Ontonagon, MI.; two daughters, Terri Hartwell (John) and Tammi Couture (Dale); one son, Joshua Norris (Jill); his mother, Jeanne Marie Norris; sisters, Chris Redmond, Janet Minock, and Kathy York; and six grandchildren. Michael was preceded in death by his father Gerald Norris, and son Jacob Norris.

Visitation services will be held Monday June 1st from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Cane Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place Tuesday 10 a.m. at the Cane Funeral Home, Pastor John Voss officiating.
