Michael Thomas Staff, 54, of Ewen, MI passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 13, 2008. Mike was born June 23, 1954 in Wakefield to Jack and Jeannette Staff.

Mike graduated from Ewen-Trout Creek School in 1972. He was employed at White Pine Copper Co. for a short time before he moved to Iron Mountain, MI. On July 6, 1984, Mike was married to the former Kelly Janssen in Quinnesec, MI. Mike went to work at Consolidated Paper in Niagara, WI, where he worked for 22 years and retired from in 1999. He and his wife moved back to the Ewen area after this.

Mike is survived by: his wife, Kelly; his parents, Jack and Jeannette; 2 brothers, Dan(Sue) Staff and John(Carla) Staff; 2 sisters, Sandy Tulppo and Nancy(Mark) Voigt all of Ewen; mother-in-law, Dorothy Janssen of Boulder City, Nevada; 3 nephews, Dan Jr.(Tina) Staff of Lake Gogebic, Alan(Kay)Tulppo of Eagle River, WI, and Mike(Wendy)Tulppo of Ewen; 6 nieces, Sheri(Mathew) Codd of Bruce Crossing, Jacky(Brad) Besonen of Ewen, Heather(Ryan) Frazer of Marquette, Kristie Staff of Bessemer, Samantha Voigt of Hancock, and Kaitlin Voigt of Ewen; 1 great nephew, Christian Besonen; 5 great nieces, Shelby Staff of Depere, WI, Elise Besonen, Emma Besonen, Brenna Tulppo, and Alysson Tulppo.

Mike loved to hunt and fish. He also loved to camp and go riding on their pontoon. He also enjoyed four wheeling.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ewen with Fr. Chacko Kakany officiating on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 11a.m. There will be visitation 1 hour before the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Sonco Ambulance or the Humane Society of Ontonagon County.
