Miriam Fors, 81, of Ewen, MI passed away July 22, 2013 at her home.

She was born on November 8, 1931 in Bruce Crossing, MI to Thomas and Ida (Miilukorpi) Syrja. Miriam was married to Clarence Fors, who preceded her in death.

She worked as a bookkeeper for the State Bank of Ewen and the Ewen Medical Center. Miriam was a strong, independent woman who was known for her kind heart and generosity. She enjoyed quilting with the ladies at First Lutheran Church, making carpets on her loom, and baking cinnamon rolls to give away at Christmastime.

Miriam is survived by her son, Robert (Deanna) of Mosinee, WI; daughter-in-law Mary of San Antonio, TX and grandchildren Sarina and Calli. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ida; husband, Clarence; son, Mark; and brother, Evert Syrja.

Funeral Services for Miriam will be held Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 5 p.m. at the Cane Funeral Home-Bruce Crossing Chapel, with visitation beginning at 4 p.m. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Ewen.
