Nancy E. Laukka, age 76, of Mass City, MI, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2010, at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital.

Nancy was born August 15, 1933, in Houghton, MI, to Arvid and Esther (Ruohonen) Kahkonen. She and her two brothers were raised by their maternal grandparents, Jack and Edna Ruohonen, when their mother passed away at a young age.

She married Kenneth Laukka on December 29, 1951, in Houghton. She is survived by her husband, Ken, three daughters, Pam (Joe) Penegor, Greenland, MI, Pat Liberto, Red Wing, MN, Sandy (Matt) Roiger, Medford, WI, two sons, Joe (Deb) of Ontonagon, MI, and Mike of Florida and grandchildren, Lee (Alice) Penegor, Missy (Mark) Westie, Laurie Store, Casey (Heather) Laukka, Kristen (Nathan) Wilber, Don Corey, Jesse Corey, Jenny (Paul) Janhke, Scott Hoover and Jason Hoover and 11 great- grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Wesley (Carol) Kahkonen, of Mt. Pleasant, MI and sister-in-law Helen (Roy) Lindstrom of Ontonagon, MI and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Twyla Kahkonen.

She liked to read, watch birds at the feeders, and watch westerns. She loved seeing her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was a loving wife and mother and ended every family phone call and visit with "I love you". She will be greatly missed and loved forever.

A private family service is planned. The Cane Funeral Home is assisting the family.
