Norma Elizabeth Stipanovich, 84, Ontonagon, passed away October 8, 2009 at Aspirus Ontonagon Long Term Care Facility where she was a resident patient after transferring from Maple Manor Nursing Center following the closure of that facility.

She was born July 13, 1925 in Mohawk, Michigan daughter of the late William & Lempi nee Lantto Hendrickson and was a 1944 graduate of Calumet High School. On September 5, 1951 she was united in marriage to John Joseph Stipanovich. Former Copper City residents, they settled in the Ontonagon area in 1959 to raise their family.

She worked for many years as a clerk at Hoeferle's IGA and was a 20 year charter member of the local TOPS club where she held various offices. Family was her life and she loved to cook and bake. Children, grandchildren and friends were welcomed into her kitchen where she lovingly offered all the family favorites.

Preceding her in death was her husband in 2003, son-in-law Rodney Myhren in 2005, sister Eunice Piirala and niece Donna Piirila.

Surviving are her children Bonnie & Frank Borrelli of Buffalo, NY; Willie & Kathy Stipanovich, Ontonagon; Nancy Myhren, Mass City; John & Kim Miilu-Stipanovich, Bad Axe, MI & Steve & Tammy McMahon-Stipanovich, Clermont, FL; grandchildren Mark, Greg & Gina Borrelli Riches; Lori Myhren-Kosey & Kyle Myhren & Nathan, Eric & Daniel Stipanovich & great-grandchildren Mark & Cecelia Borrelli; Braxtan, Ryder & Kolbi Stipanovich & Lena Myhren.

The funeral service for Norma Stipanovich will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 12, 2009 in the chapel at the Cane Funeral Home. Pastor David Nelson, Redeemer Free Lutheran Church, will officiate. Visitation will be from 2-4 on Sunday and 1 hour prior to the start of the service on Monday. Burial will follow in the family plot in Calvarey Cemetery in Ahmeek. CANE FUNERAL HOME, Ontonagon.
