Norman "Butch" Alapert 64 of Ontonagon passed away on April 18, 2016 at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital's L.T.C.U.

He was born on September 23, 1951 in Ishpeming to Leslie & Marie (Kaarto) Alapert. Butch attended Mass City Schools until the age of 15 when he relocated with his family to Farmington, MI. He graduated from Farmington High School in 1968. Butch spent his working days in the Metro Detroit area, working as a dry waller. He moved back to Ontonagon in 1996.

Butch like to hunt & fish. He was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions and Tigers. He loved to cook and was exceptional at both cooking & baking. Butch's greatest love was collecting baseball cards, amassing an enormous collection.  He also enjoyed spending time with his great nieces and nephews.

Butch is survived by his mother Marie of Ontonagon, siblings David "Dobs" of Ontonagon, Judy Idol of Mass City, Robert (Debbie) of Westland, MI & Terry of Webberville, MI and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles & cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father Leslie & brother Gary "Nonny".

Funeral services will take place on Friday, April 22nd at the Cane Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home 1 hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will take place at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Greenland.
