Norman Pence 70 of Rockland passed away unexpectedly Saturday September 11, 2010 at the Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital. Son of Lee and Vera Pence, he was born April 20, 1940 in Winona, MI. He was preceded in death by son Ronald, brothers Ray & Harold, sister Marguerite, parents Lee and Vera. Norman married his wife Nancy (Lindberg) Pence on July 26, 1961 in Ontonagon.
Norman is survived by his wife Nancy and children Cheryl (Dennis) Touhey, Lynn (Jeff) Owens, Brian (Wendy) Pence, grandchildren Sarah, Amber, Wade, Aaron, Megan, Christine, brother Charles (Ann), sister Elvera Detki and a large extended family.
He was a member of the Rockland Fire Department, worked at the White Pine Mine, drove logging trucks for Burcar Logging, worked for Lindberg Construction and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Norman loved NASCAR and attending local area racing, restoring classic cars, woodworking, he and Nancy also enjoyed the local outdoors: on their four wheelers or snowmobiles, fishing and time with his family.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until Noon with service and luncheon to follow at the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Rockland on Wednesday September 15th. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Rockland.
