Norman Colgin Penegor, formerly of Ontonagon, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2013 in Springfield,Oregon.
Norman was born June 15, 1920 to Martin and Mabel Penegor in Ontonagon. He served in the US Army Signal Corps in Europe and Northern Africa from October 1941 to October 1945. He married his former wife, Alice on May 28, 1947 and settled in Springfield, Oregon to log and start a family. Norman operated Penegor Logging Co. with his brother Lowell Penegor(deceased) in Pleasant Hill, Oregon. They logged all around Oregon and southern Washington. Norman started logging with horses at age 14 (McKenzie-Colgin Logging Co. with his grandfather), and drove log trucks until age 82. Norman loved logging and the Oregon outdoors.
Norman is survived by his children Gerald Penegor of Berkeley, CA, Jean Hoisington of Carrolls, WA, David Penegor of Eugene, OR, Robert Penegor of Eugene, OR and Dale Penegor of Salem, OR. He is also survived by grandchildren Loni and Justin Vandegriffe; great-granddaughter Isabella Vandegriffe, sister Patricia Penegor-Buss, brother William Russell Penegor both of Cape Coral, FL and nieces Janice Penegor-Rogers, Karen Penegor- Hollingsworth, and Patricia Williams and nephew Kim Penegor. Norman will be dearly missed.
CHANGE OF SERVICE TIME: A Graveside service will take place Monday, June 10 at 10 a.m. at the Riverside Cemetery in Ontonagon.
