Otto Niemi 83 of Ontonagon passed away at his home on Monday, July 6, 2009.

Otto was born April 21, 1926 to Thomas & Ida (Puttila) Niemi. He worked in the logging industry most of his life. Otto worked as a caretaker for several years at the Ed Heiti farm in Firesteel. He resided at Cane Court in Ontonagon for the past 15 years.

Otto enjoyed visiting and having coffee with his neighbors and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and natural beauty of the Upper Peninsula.

Otto is survived by his brother Ray Niemi of Ontonagon and sister Elvie (Bob) DeBard of Hemet, CA and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother Anselem, William and Sulo and his sister Dixie Byrnes.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 11th at 11 a.m. at the Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon, Friends may gather at the funeral home one hour prior to the start of the service.
